You'll always notice a difference when going from worn out stock pads to a new set of stock pads. It's a matter of whether or not you notice a difference when going from fresh stock pads to performance pads. EBC has several choices of hardness. Carbon is a good mix, sintered is the hardest. Sintered also gives you more roto wear. But if you ride in the deep mud and find braking a problem, you 'need' sintered. I've never really felt a difference between carbon and sintered, but my preference lies with carbon because they stop well cold and hot.
