have you ever had a dirtbike before? if not then its your best bet to stick with the 250 thumpers, and i would recommend either the yz250f or the kawasaki kx250f, the honda crf250r eats up oil i have heard, and doesnt have as much of a hit as these other bikes, and on top of that the yamaha is sick and so is the kawasaki...both are realy nice bikes!
stay away from a 450 unles you've got a few years under your belt
I dont know all that much about the newer 4 stroke 250's except they perform a lot better than the older ones that were a joke.
Have to think since your concerned with how you fit the bike you should give a lot of thought to which one fits you best.
And a honda 4stroke burning lots of oil just doesnt sound right at all and if I was in the market for one I would check out this closely before discounting that model since so many including my self have had great experiences with the various honda engines.
Good luck and try not to get in over your head cause there are enough used bikes for sale lately.
