One of my friends has a 1983 kdx 125 2 stroke that he wants to get rid of. It's an enduro with a headlight, but is very light. It's been sitting at his dad's house forever, but seems to be in mint condition considering how old it is. He said he got it running, but the throttle stuck wide open and he gave up ater that, that was like 2 months ago. The plastics are in great condition, has good compresion, decent tires, and the clutch still has some life left. He said he will sell it to me cheap, but IDK that I want a project bike?? Has anyone heard of these bikes, do you think it would be worth a couple hundred bucks?

I tried that with a few older yz 125's. I think they were 1975's but anyway, after I got them going about a couple of rides into actually enjoying them everytime I did this the stators seemed to go and I could not get any anywhere. If you do this check out if you can get electrical stuff for them first...

if the throttle sticks it can be 1 of 3 things, the cable is getting hung up so buy a new thorttle cable instead of just fixing the old one (who knows how long it would alst from how old it is, better safe than sorry!), i dont know what kinda carb is on that bike but the ball slide or flat slide is sticking so you could easily take apart the carb and take a look at it, or it could be the floats sticking, again taking the carb apart and checkin them out can easily fix this problem. i would take the head apart and check out the cylinder and if it isnt scored throw a new piston in thier for safe measures, if your thinking the clutch doesnt have much life left, trust me buy some new plates and maybe heavy duty springs if you have the extra 10 bucks, check the chain and sprockets for wearing, most of the bearings are probably shot on that bike so they would have to be replaced, and decent tires will have to be replaced soon also....its a project but can easily become the bike you end up riding if your atv is down for repairs or maintence or something

maybe i went a little over-board with it but those are the things ive learned to pay attention to with bikes

wow i was just gonna buy a new clutch cable, clean out the carb, and tune it all up. I dont plan on makeing this a full time riden bike, just somthing to mess around with and have fun....and for 200 bucks who cares if it blows up in 2 months..
