Hey guys,

Just wondering what you all bring with you on your rides so that you don't get stuck, thirsty, hungry, etc... Any neat tools or repair kits you've found? Do you wear it or tie it down? Found some really unique stuff that's perfect for packing light?

I'm trying to figure out exactly how much to bring and not bring. "Just in case" keeps making the pack larger and larger...

What goes out with you on your ride?

Specify ATV or bike...

Depends on where I am riding and with whom....

With adults locally - water, first aid kit, cell phone, small tool kit, spare plug and fuses

With kids locally - water, snacks, first aid kit , cell phone, nylon tow rope, small tool kit, spare plug and fuses

In deep woods - same as above but add comealong

ATV: Since I recently switched from the softbag (rear mount Quadboss) to a hard case (Contico). I need to restock a few things....

Currently though:
150 ft rope. (Home Depot)
Extra Warn winch hook (newer, larger hook now on bike, Lowes)
Small toolkit (misc- need to look into something a bit bigger)
Extra gloves (HD)
Tire plug kit. (?)
Zip ties. (HD)
Spark plug (?)
Low pressure air gauge. (?)
Water (Seben-Eleben)
Handy wipes (careful, hard cases make them explode open ) (CVS)
Air pump- electric (Campbell Hausfield)

Things I need to add back in:
Tow Rope (HD) recently snapped it dragging a bulk of railroad ties
First aid kit.
Extra rubber boots (V.F.D.)
Strong, durable flashlight
Espresso machine, Jacuzzi, Fishtank, Laptop computer

ok ok, u get the drift, the bigger the trip, the more crap I carry!

Recently I had an idea to add one of those 1 gallon PUMP n SPRAY insectiside thingies....... gonna pack it with water too, for OVERHEATING BIKES, it'll be real easy to spray the radiator.... Need to test a few things first! But that was my brainfart invention.... if I stick with 1 gallon, it should fit right inside my hard case.....

I never thought of the water sprayer, good idea. A couple things to think about if you expect to do much winching:

A soft strap to go around a tree of telephone pole.

A snatch block (a pulley with a hook) for those odd angles

Cable clamps for broken winch lines

Yes, I do try to get stuck!

Well, I've got basically the same crap as everyone else, but two things I do have that weren't mentioned yet are jumper cables and a gas siphon. I found these really cheap jumper cables at Walmart for under $8 with case and they are perfect for ATVs. When you have a problem and you run down the battery trying to get it started again, using someone else's juice is a nice option. The siphon I also got at Walmart for like $4 just in case. Haven't run out yet, but that's something I'm likely to do...
