Well today I tried to go riding but the quad gods didnt let me . About 10 minutes up the trail I hit a bump in the trail and the front cyl. started missing and popping real bad. I spent the rest of the day trouble shooting the problem. I believe its an ignition problem. The front cyl. misses under a load but idles fine.I swapped plugs and coils with another brute force that was there, but nothing changed.I had the carbs off and checked they seem fine. I was advised by some of the other guys that the cdi box most likely was bad,so off to the dealer it goes on tuesday.

This was my view for the day[attachment=2531:attachment]

These symptoms aren't the same as when you put the machine into it's reverse gear? If so, just like the Raptor 660R, maybe the reverse lever switch is stuck?

I wish it was that easy, that was the first thing I tried.
This problem seems to be on the front cylinder only. I also noticed the rubbery side of the cdi box is coming apart and seems to be corroding from the inside out. I spoke with my dealer today and will be bringing it down tomorrow. They said its so new they should be able to warranty the work.

Jim, check out Brutecentral.com for a lot of good troubleshooting resources.
I don't recall that being too common.
Lubing the connectors from corrosion has been a problem at the CDI and at the fan.
Good luck.

Hey, i thought you moved to.....

Not yet Pete ,were waiting for the market to go up again before we sell it and move.So you have to put up with me for a while longer

Well I was at Kawi today and left my bike there. The service manager gave me a couple of quick possibilities but none of them sounded right to me.Ill just have to wait until they actually figure it out.
First thing he says to me after I described the problem and he reved up the engine a few times was that they have had brutes with sticky exhaust valves .My answer to him was: wouldn't the engine clatter and tap ? wouldn't a sticky valve get worse as the engine gets hotter ? And why does it run great up to 3,000 rpm ?
I think that pissed him off,oh well.
Then he says they also have had problems with kawi engines building up allot of carbon and it breaks off and gets stuck in the exhaust valves .They have a special top engine cleaner to clear it up.
Again I said why does it run great up to 3,000 rpm ? And if after only 20 hrs ,my motor has that much carbon build up then Kawasaki better figure out why. That engine should be spotless at this point.
That pissed him off even more....
Any way he said they would call me on thursday and let me know what they found.

So I got it back today....and basicly they dont know what went wrong. They claim my bike was in "limp home mode" by this the computer limits engine rpms so as not to damage the motor and yet still get it back to your trailer. They reset the computer and test drove it and it seemed to be fine. They could not tell me why this happened And of course charged me labor time for it.
So now I get to be a test pilot and see if it screws up again.

probly re-branded Seafoam... Subaru does the same thing they charge you for their special "upper engine cleaner" but it's re-branded Seafoam which can be picked up for $5 at autozone and works wonders... I ran it through my subi once in the fall, made a big difference and now that i think about it i'm gonna run it through my rincon real soon.
