About 2 weeks ago, on a wednesay or thursday, a fellow on another site asked if anybody had a hood from an 06 or newer 450r. i had one that i took off as soonas i unloaded the bike so i told him to make an offer. it retails for 24.98 and he offered me 25 to ship it to Missouri. iaacepted that as it was fair to both parties. He hadn't paid me by sunday so i asked if he still wanted the hood. He said yes and that if i didn't mind, he was waiting a few days until his paypal account was set up. no prblem on my end. wednes the 12th rolls around and i finally receive the paypal payment. the hood gets shipped out by usps on the 13th, since i am working nights, and ahve to sleep while my daughter is in school, i have my mother stop by adn pick it up to ship it before she goes to work. she ships it without any frills(ins, del conf, etc) and it cost $5.67.

A week goes by and he contacts me asking where it is at. I have the receipt showing the zip and town it went to so i scan and send him the scan so he knows i shipped it. Friday at 4:58 pm, the post office calls me and tells me the package is there for me to pick up. We also discuss the address i had in my records compared to the adress on the pkg. they macthed. It had been forwarded from wherever it went and then was undeliverable as addressed. the label was a cut and paste from his paypal payment with the address he gave me. in order fro me to get the package, i had to pay return the return shipping fee of $5.67 again. I contact the buyer and give him 2 options, i can refund him his money, minus the original shipping fee only, or he can give me another 5 and the correct address.

He ends up opening a dispute with paypal and after i stick to my guns. I look up his address on the internet adn he gave me the correct address also so i offer to take the package to the post offce and see if they would consider shipping for free since this was their mistake somewhere. i didn't expect that to happen but...

anyway, after that, he escaltes it to a dispute, where my only options are a full refund, show paypal tracking number, or give up and hope paypal rules in my favor.

am i worng in wanting to give only a partial refund? should i ship the guy the hood back and pay $18 for shipping from a $25 dollar payment. should i keep fighting this?
here is the receipt:

here is a pic of the shipping label as it came back to me:

one of the things that offended me was the he told paypal it had been 2 weeks from payment that this had been going on and that he had no proof that i shipped it, even after i sent him a copy of the receipt.

oh, and i can spell advice, just not at 2:30 in the morning

If the buyer gave you the correct address he should not have to pay again for shipping.

If he gave you the wrong address than I would ask for him to pay the shipping cost.

after seeing the "evidence" that i was going to fax to paypal, he decided to accept my offer of a refund minus the original shipping cost. if he had lost with paypal, he may not have gotten any money back at all. i think he realized he had the potential to lose.

i feel that he had bought another hood at a cheaper price after i shipped this one, and wanted to back out of our deal. i was able to cut my losses in half.

but, if i addresses it correctly which i did, why should i have had to pay for shipping at all. let alone twice...remember, i already paid for the return shipping.

So your thinking package was delivered to his address and he refused to sign for it, so it was returned to you?

Yea, that’s no good. You need not pay shipping if it was delivered and he just changed his mind.

I was thinking it was returned because of a post office error and this is something he wanted and just never received.
