Anyone know of a website or store that sells RAM inexpensively? My computer takes PC-800 RDRAM 184 pin NON ECC 800MHZ it requires two chips at a time.

Have 256MB right now and am running XPpro. Is another 128 enough or should I go another 256?

any advice or help would be appreciated.....

thanks, Keith

XP-PRO with 256?? Tell me you're kidding..... does it even BOOT?? PRO reccomends a MINIMUM of 1GIG (1024 mb) I think.

Keith, I have a similar setup - XP Pro with 384 of RDRAM. The memory is very expensive compared to SDRAM, but I'm sure you've figured that out long ago.

I keep my eye on eBay. Sometimes you can find a decent deal. And since there's only so many slots on the board, I recommend buying a pair of 512's to get a gig each time you upgrade.

Mark, RDRAM is phenomenal -very fast and dependable (which is why it's been end-of-lifed like an HP LJet 4 which doesn't die either). 384 works quite well for all the stuff I run. If he had a gig plus his 256, he'd be set!

EDIT - One other thing, if it's for a Dimension 8200 series PC, you NEED the 800-40 sticks, NOT the 800-45!

thanks

Oh and yes Mark, it does actually boot up. The computer and all of its software were free from my work. (It was given to me) The pc was built for my boss and he never used it. It sat in a box until last year. We have a new laptop in the house for those things that this will not handle. My wife has been using it for work lately and it is a little slower than I would like it to be.
