I need some professional advise on my furnace. It's an old coal to oil converted EFM unit. The burner unit is an S model, not sure of the exact model. I ran it out of oil last week, when I finally got it lit, I noticed that it was shooting the flame all the way across the chamber, and half way up the far side. It is very rich, actually forcing smoke out of the inspection door when it starts. After it would cycle, it would not relight itself without hitting the reset. I can get the nozzle off without removing the burner, since it is cemented into the chamber. I took the nozzle out and found the screen all gunked up. I cleaned it and put it back in. Now it will restart on it's own but it is still very rich. I figured it needs a new nozzle. Now here's where it gets confusing: the nozzle is a 70 degree ES solid, 1.25 gal per hour. The closest thing I could fin is a 70 S, 1.20 gal per hour. I came to find out the ES is a Kerosene tip. Now I have found out that EFM never used a 70 degree tip. They only ever used 60 S and 80 S nozzles. What tip should I be putting back into this thing? I need it to keep going for another month or so till I can take it out and service it right. Once I take it out I have to let the furnace cement set up for 24 hours before relighting it.
