I was asked to speak on Land Use at a monthly meeting of the North Jersey Jeep Club recently, while there one of the members of the board noticed I was wearing one of those rubber bracelets, it was for the "Wounded Warriors Project" we talked and he mentioned a program that he had heard about(see below)I said great lets do it.
The reason I am posting this is this is not an ATV or OHM event , it is wounded soldier going for a ride in a jeep or like vehicle, but it would be great if other OHV organizations and clubs were to supply back-up support for the event, i.e. help during the event with a barbecue after the ride, transporting vets back and forth to event, whatever needs to be done. This is a great way to show our appreciation for those that either keep us safe or have kept us safe. Also this will make for a great photo op and
PR campaign for OHV in NJ.
We will be trying to secure state land for the event, but we also would like to know if anyone has private land in case we need a back-up.
Any ideas and volunteers are welcome. We also have contacted counterparts in PA for a similar event.

Wheelers for the Wounded is an organization with the goal of providing a weekend of off-roading and camping to our country's wounded military members all over the United States. This will provide them with much deserved fun and excitement as they traverse the most extreme terrain our great country has to offer in a variety of the best off-road capable vehicles ever built.
Upon the completion of the founder's tour in Iraq he will return to the United States and begin an off-roading and camping adventure across our great land which will begin the weekend of April 4-5, 2009. This will enable the wounded servicemen and women to experience the beautiful country they've unselfishly given up so much of their lives for.
Along the way, members of off-road clubs all across the States will host special events for the brave men and women and accompany them on the trails in their area. Riding with the groups will give the wounded military men and women an opportunity to ride along in a variety of modified off-road vehicles. It will surely bring smiles to the faces of our esteemed passengers. At nightfall, we'll camp out in the most beautiful national parks in the country.
To increase the sensation that an open-air vehicle provides, a brand new 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon has been purchased. The top and doors will be removed which will benefit those who have lost partial eyesight and/or hearing, which is a common result of I.E.D., E.F.P., and mortar attacks. The Rubicon is currently in the process of being customized and will truly be a one of a kind vehicle.
This in not a political website in support of one party or another, or in support of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan or against them. The only support here is for the American men and women in uniform.
This is the vehicle that will be used during the trip. Take a good look at it because once it's turned over to Overbuilt Customs of Jacksonville, Florida, it will undergo a modification process like no other.
