A couple of us just planned a trip to the Hatfield-McCoy trails in May. We're staying at the Browning Fork trail system, but was wondering if we should make an effort to get over to any of the other trail systems while we're there.

Browning Fork Trail System
Buffalo Mountain Trail System
Dingess Rum Trail System
Pinnacle Creek Trail System
Indian Ridge Trail System
Little Coal River Trail System

If anyone would like to make plans to meet us there, let me know and I'll get back to you with the precise dates once I double check them.

How useful is having a guide on these trails? Aren't they all clearly marked?

Browning, Pinnacle, and Buffalo Mtn were already suggested to me, but there's a possibility Buffalo Mtn might be one of those slow rock crawling kind of trails. If so, we'll probably avoid that one.

Considering that the Browning Fork Trail is almost in my back yard, let me see if I can assist you. If you are riding more than 2 days, you might want to consider one of the other trails. You will have plenty to do for two days (or more) on the Browning Fork Trail. If you choose another trail, you might want to pick one close to the proximity in which you are staying. Another option that I know some riders do is stop at another trail system on their way in to their lodging. Ride it then venture to your lodge.

If I can help any other way, let me know.
