Man dies following accident on ATV
Wednesday, May 28, 2008
OLD BRIDGE: A man riding an all-terrain vehicle died from injuries he sustained when he crashed into a car on Cheesequake Road in Old Bridge just as a police officer was trying to stop him, authorities said yesterday.

Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Nicholas Sewitch said Marc Reeves, 30, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, about 12 hours after the accident.

Reeves was traveling south on Cheesequake Road, just north of Poor Farm Road at 9:40 a.m. when he crossed into the northbound lanes and struck the left fender of a 1994 Toyota Co rolla, Sewitch said. Reeves, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the vehicle.

He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he later died.

Moments before the crash, an Old Bridge police officer saw Reeves and activated his emer gency lights, Sewitch said. He said the officer tried to stop the ATV and warn other motorists, but within seconds Reeves crossed to the wrong side of the road and struck the car.

Authorities are still investigating the accident, and anyone with information is asked to call investigator Jeff Temple of Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office at (732) 745-3300.

ATV on road without helmet. Hate to say this but it sounds like natural selection to me. Feel bad for the guy who's car got hit since he is gonna have to pay for that out of pocket.
