I have a 83 model 200 big red that runs great and dosnt smoke but yet i foul out spark plugs in less than 20 min. i had the problem of carbon fouling but corrected it with my air fuel mixture. not enough fuel ment not enough heat to keep the plug clean. if i adjust any more i have to much fuel. i have about 10 hours on the head and gaskets the head was just reworked. i dont know what to do next. i was told to adjust vaulves but i dont know what my lash should be. I havnt found a good book anywhere fot this one. would the book for a standard 185 or 200 work even though this is a big red with high and low? any help would be great..

valve lash isnt going to do anything for runing rich....did you do a compression test to see if the rings are shot? You could always trya hotter plug to keep themselves clean'er

well i fiannally found the problem and it was a mixture of things.. one. the vaulve lash was way to loose causing vaccume problems not allowing enough air into the cylender. 2. a guy helping me work on it somehow put to small of fuel line on it so i was running my float out of fuel faster than it could fill it. i still dont know how he got that damn line on there i had to cut it off. after all of that i reset my carb and got rid of the rich burn so its back to running in top condition.
