ok here is the deal

a guy has a 2001 powroll 330ex motor he want to trade for a stock 300ex motor. his motor has powroll cam, valves, springs, 330kit, hinson clutch and a flatside carb. but not the drive chain roller fell off and the chain wore a groove under the front sprocket.he said it did not break through the case or anything and he filled it with jb weld.the 330 motor was built about 15 hours ago.he wants to trade motors + $300

he says he just bought the quad for his dad with all the performance stuff done to it and he doesnt want the power so he wants a stock 300ex engine

Stick with your stock engine. You have no idea what that person could have done or didnt do to that engine. I feel it is best to keep things stock. Also never buy something that has been all worked like that. It is a different story if you are building the engine and you know exactly what you have done to it. Someone could have messed something up on it and you are buying a ticking time bomb. At least with your stock engine you know it is reliable and isnt gonna crap out on you tomorrow.

Do you know how to tell a good engine from a bad one? How about knowing if it really has the mods he claims?

If the answer to both was yes then go check it out, if not run like hell.

I know some go crazy for modded stuff and others wont touch anything thats not 100% stock, but if you know what your looking at and have interests in modding etc anyway you can get some seriously good deals on modded stuff, but if you are trusting the seller to determine the condition and value you can get into a lot of trouble from unknown problems.
