whatever that screw is that is right under the float bowl !!! I call it an air screw.

under the carb theres a bowl drain screw ,i opened it and out it came,theres a pilot screw a little higher

the pilot screw is the richer leaner screw so i'll mess wit dat.....maybe i need to change pilot jet???

YUP....thats it ,about 4 and a half turns out and it runs great (warm) so the question it how much larger do i jet the pilot (stock now)

You should only have to go out 2 and 1/2 turns max! I would say either go with a 40 or 42 pilot jet.

yes that what i figured...so does anyone have an extra 40 or 42 pilot jet for a 400ex and save this rider some money on a whole kit????

or can ya buy just one??

OK i went and got a #42 at pompton honda just 3.99 and a world of difference....thanks!
