Yeah my local dealers are friggin thieves!

I called around for tires, and then for the costs to mount them.

Three local dealerships wanted $90 a tire. One offered a 10% discount ONLY for AMA members. (PM me for the dealership names), ones in metuchen, one's in greenbrook, and another is in south river)

They all wanted $30 to $35 per tire to mount them! I found someone for $3.50 (yes three dollars!) to get them mounted. Hell, I'm going to give the guy $5 to do it!

Definitely consult with PAT at Cycle Addicts BEFORE you buy anything. He's a good business man, with VERY fair prices...I bought my tires from him for a great price.

-If anyone needs some GOOD used parts (regardless of brand of bike) contact me as I have some pretty good connections, both locally and nationlly, and can get most stuff within the same day to three days.

I'm going to partner up with the tire mounter, and should you be interested in getting them mounted, contact me as well.

-Chris

Went to buy a kickstarter for my cousins DR 125 Suzuki. Went to the Suzuki dealer (Monmouth). $125..... Needless to say I didn't buy it. I was at Country Cycles in Toms River and inquired about it. The genuine, factory kickstarter from them was $60. Same part..... Half the price. So I bought it there. The main reason why I won't buy from a dealer is because there's no discount, no matter how good of a customer you are, and you pay full price for everything. Not that I'm a cheapskate.... but heck. Why should I pay $200 for a pair of boots, when a local shop will do them cheaper. There's only one dealer I'll use for service, and they're in North Carolina.

everyone should invest in a set of ATV tire irons, too ... they are under $12.00, for the pair ... definatly a good investment

Good idea on the tire irons, and if you have util etc should think of carrying them since you may have room.

I have access to an old non electric stand up auto tire changer from the late 60's or early 70's and it works great, plenty of power (its mostly all manual now) from leverage and not fast or strong enough to screw up the rims, but still plenty able to break the beads.

Wonder if this is something to be found cheap anyware?
