more power is definately what everyone wants but in my opinion if you have a quad that you already unhappy with how it handles It may be time to upgrade to a different model.

more power on that machine maybe a death wish??? whats everyone else think?

I know your into drags so if thats your intent I would say do it,if your gonna trail ride full speed like some of us idiots then maybe a different quad is in order.

I agree. I've always felt you start with the best machine and upgrade from there. It's not a perfect rule, but it make sense under most circumstances.

I believe Hot Cams and Web Cams both make Cams for the 400. I think you can make that quad handle very well. The technology is a little out of date at this point. The new 450s are much better, but also way more money.

ok so whats a big bore kit and hot cam cost, is it worth it?

just replacing the floppy wheel bearings and changing the tires should make it respond better. If your satisfied with the way it rides at that point make a decision on the engine work.

The later year KFX400s have increased compression and different camshafts which make a very noticeable difference. The KFX400 also recieved piggy back reservior front shocks those same years. If you're KFX doesn't have the piggy backs, then you also need to increase the compression. It's very likley all you need to do to incrase this compression is change to a thinner base gasket, but make sure you do this research yourself.

With ATVs, I've always felt that upgrade money was best spent on suspension and handling improvements. If you're riding with the wrong tires, that's clearly the first thing you need to change.
