I have a 1996 bayou 300, went out to crank it yesterday and when i turned the key, I could not get the neutral light to come on. I have been pull starting it since it would not start via starter even though the starter seems to spin up. It has at least been working by pulling it till today. I have changed the spark plug and checked the battery. The battery was dry so i filled it with water. I then charged it and the charger shows that the battery is fully charged. Before i changed the spark plug, i could pull it and it would almost start. the neutral light would also flash on and off while it was trying to start. I do not claim to be a mechanic but would appreciate some ideas as where to go from here.

First I would check all of the wiring for a loose connection or loose gound. That is the most common problem. Make sure that the starter button is engaging fully. The contacts could be corroded on the switch or the battery terminals. After that, try jumping the battery and then trying to start it, that will rule out the battery. Also, make sure your llights are off (done that one before) . Good luck.
