I would say to check the frame for stress cracks. Especially at the upper shock mounts. Those frames are prone to cracking. If you find problems, Suzuki cut the price of the frames in half because of this, so they're around $600 now, or you can send it out to Lonestar. They'll reweld and gussett the frame and repowdercoat it for around $700. Then there's a company making an upper shock tower brace that virtually eliminates the problems there for around $100. I beleive it was Dirt Wheels that said it wasn't a matter of 'if' the frame cracks, but that they all will. The harder you ride it, the quicker it happens. I still like them though and it sounds like a sweet deal. If I get a new quad though, I'm waiting for the Suzuki 450 to come out.

This happened to a friend of mine. What a mess! Honestly, I suspect the shocks are to blame in most cases. Those things look like they came off a lawnmower-powered minibike. I think those shocks wind up bottoming out frequently and cause undue stress on the frame. I'm sure the problem has happened on LTz's with aftermarket shocks too, so the frame can't be considered too strong.
