I am picking up a 2003 KFX400 later today and wanted to know what everyone thought it was worth. Here is the list of mods.
-Protaper 1 1/8 bars, Trail Tech Clamp, AC nerf bars, Full LRD exhaust, AC bumper, K&N Air Filter, UM Radiator Shrouds, E-Brake Block off and DR. D reverse lever.
The bike seems to be in good shape and runs fine. I had my friend who knows about quads check it out and he thought it looked sound. I am not mentioning the price because I want to see what others think it is worth. I am getting it for less then $3,000.00.
I am posting this because I found another 100% MINT KFX400 3/4 hours away for $3,000.00 completely stock.

That sounds like a great deal to me. If you pass on it, please let me know. I know someone it would be perfect for.
The only thing you should be aware of is the 400's are currently being outclassed by the Honda and Yamaha 450ies. If Kawasaki eventually introduces a 450 ATV, you'll see lots of used 400's for sale.
I'm guessing you don't care if the KXF400 is the highest or second-highest performing ATV from Kawasaki. Besides that, it sounds like you're getting an excellent deal and won't be stuck with a 400 you paid too much for even if the latest and greatest thing to come along happens tomorrow.
Without being able to evaluate the KXF400's condition, I'm giving this deal a

Thanks for your input. I am actually getting the KFX400 for $2650 so I am happy now. I know the Honda and Yami 450s are faster but that doesn't really bother me... YET. My friend has a YFZ450 (stock) and as long as he doesn't completely blow me out of the water its all good. The only thing about the KFX I might change would be new plastics because they are race cut. It appears to run good, sounds good and with some cleaning will look perfect. I do know of that other one up in Mass. that the guy is willing to take $3000.00 for so let me know if you need the info. Anything I should be worried about with the KFX400s? I know about the front shock thing being rewelded which this one was and the basics. I can't wait to get this and start riding this weekend. I rode my KX on Sunday and it wasn't any fun being with a friend on a quad. Thanks again.

I have one, but it's main purpose it to make sure my garage stays cluttered. It hasn't seen water in 4 or 5 years.
A friend of mine is still into it a little. Here's his STX-R. It has triple Novi carbs, triple Factory Pipes, Skat pump, carbon fiber rear seat and front hood, UMI steering, CNC ported cylinders, flat top pistons, Beach House sponsons, and the list continues. It's basically a MacCluggage replica.
