This bill is a reiteration of laws already on the books, but with much stiffer fines/penalties a further sign of the attitude of some of NJ Legislators. It goes so far as to suspend licenses, get jail time, increase fines and registration fees and goes as far as to provide for confiscation and sale of your machine....It includes ATV`s , Dirt Bikes and Snowmobiles....It further jeapordizes OHV recreation in NJ... Below is a link to listen to the first reading which took place 12/06/06... Thanks go out to Dale Freitas President of NJOHVA, Ray Lewandowski of Sport Honda,Steve Hyde from Mt. Holly Powersports and Kenny Montanaro from NJOHVP for testifying on behalf of all OHV enthusiests against this ridiculous bill. Unfortunately it fell on deaf ears.We need to get anyone and everyone we know to sign up for action alerts on NJOHVA so we can make a bigger impact and have a chance at stopping this damaging legislation....
We need to write letters and make phone calls to the Assembly Transportation and Public Works Committee.

Make some noise against this bill.

More to come..............

Good Morning everyone,

(ADMNS, Please make this a Sticky...This is very important...)

Please take a second out of your day and call these people that Sponsored Bill A-4172... and voice your opinion!... ONLY TAKE A MINUTE!

Gusciora, Reed as Primary Sponsor (609) 292-0500
Moriarty, Paul D. as Primary Sponsor (856) 232-6700
Panter, Michael J. as Primary Sponsor (732) 544-2116
Wisniewski, John S. as Primary Sponsor (732) 316-1885

We need to flood their offices with as many calls as possible!

Politely explain that this bill is negatively impacting law abiding citizens (US!!!!) that legally ride in state parks and forests!!!!

Request verbally that this bill should be withdrawn!!!!
Point out the fact that it provides ZERO funds for the off-road community!!! This is a major flaw!!!!

If we don't call WE ARE FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don’t think this is a “New Jersey only” problem, if you like riding enduros, CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Copy this paste and email it to EVERYONE you ride with

I just called all four numbers.

Spoke to someone each time...They seemed interested, and they took notes...

All four calls took a combined total of 10 minutes...They indicated that they have been fielding calls all day!!!

KEEP CALLING!!!

Quiet honestly we do not need to call on the sponsors of the bill!!!!! We need to write and call the Transportation Committee
as well as our own district legislators...

To further understand this was the second reading , it needs a third reading and then it goes to senate for vote, we need this stopped before it gets that far....

Just tell them you are opposed to the bill and you feel it is another tax on a small user group that provides nothing in return..........
be firm in your beliefes

JP,

As per the ECEA site, that was the direction givin to us.

Thanks for this new list...

One question though, why wasn't this brought to our attention at the bills introduction?

I'm going to make some calls now...AGAIN!!!

Christian/others

There was an action alert thru NJOHVA one on 5/7/07 and others also I think it may have been posted on BB`s, maybe not.

But let me give you some background............. I follow anywhere from 20 to 50 legislative bills per session pertaining to OHV use in one form or another. Most of which you never hear of and never make to 1st reading. Each bill that comes out I personally read thoroughly, make notes and recommendations, call and speak to either the legislator him/herself or their chief of staff. I discuss the bill from our side , I ask what prompted the bill and I try to talk objectively to the individual about the bill and the OHV industry. This takes about a month of phone tag and back and forth phone calls and sometimes a sit down at their office. In a lot of cases an action alert would be premature. Although there is no action alert or it is not posted on a bulletin board that does not mean all is dandy in OHV world, I do this on the side with no compensation even though it is very time consuming and costs me $$ every day to do it... I do it for the love of the sport and a promise I made my kids that they would someday ride legally in NJ.....

I hope this did not sound argumentative as it was not meant as such....

PS: We will be getting some national help on this one.... all I can say for now.....
