The NJ Trails Plan Team won't know that we want ATV trails unless we tell them. Here's your chance!

A few of us are going to this Thursday night. We're meeting just down the street around 5:45pm for a quick bite to eat before the meeting. The more, the merrier!

Garden State Pky South to
exit 114 to "Holmdel/Middletown", go 0.4 miles
Turn left at Red Hill Rd - go 1.6 miles

Jeepinjp, for those of us going to Thursday's meeting, what should we do or say while we're there? For that matter, what shouldn't we do or say?

RP,
The main thing is too let it be known that for the most part we are law abiding, families that just enjoy the outdoors in a different way, that we are just as concerned for the environment as anyone else. What we need are safe and legal areas to enjoy our sport. There are legal OHV programs in 2/3 of the states and they have proven to cut down illegal riding and protect the environmentally sensitive areas. There is federal funding available for motorized recreation.that properly built trails with proper maintainence will not erode and cause environmental damage, and the users are willing to chip in and help maintain such trails or facilities... that it is a recognized form of recreation by both the federal and state governments. And that it is one of the fastest forms of outdoor recreation over the last 10 years and will continue to be, there are about 212,000 OHV users in NJ, 2/3 of which are ATV`s but we support all OHV use.

You definitely do not want to get in a pissing match with anyone, there will be jerks there that are adament about not allowing OHV use, they will spew nonsence about destruction and pollution etc, inform them that 2 strokes are pretty much a dinasouar and the industry in making terrain friendly tires and other products regularly. Also the sound(noise) issue .... they industry standard id 96dB, which is around what a lawn mower is , also a blender, leaf blower etc. and the 96dB READING IS AT 20 INCHES... a quick sound education is : sound levels loose 6 dB everytime you double the distance i.e 96dB @ 20`` is 90 dB @ 40`` is 84 dB @ 80`` etc.. and also the multipling of users does not double or triple the dB levels ,, every time you add a sound source it only adds 2 dB to the previuos level i.e. 2 users 98dB, 3 users 100 dB etc...

Sorry I cant type any more ...
