Just a warning to beware of the Patriot ATVs for kids -- I bought a 70 and a 110 for my kids for Christmas, and had problems from the get-go. Loose bolts, loose engine parts, etc. I had one or the other in for service after every outing.

Last weekend my son was riding on flat sand, nothing out of the ordinary, and the 110's oil cap blew off spewing hot oil all over his leg (luckily he was wearing boots and riding pants). After he jumped off the ATV, the engine caught on fire and was shooting flames out the side.

I have gotten only the "Sorry, we can't help you" from both Patriot and their dealer, Family Motor Sports.

Needless to say, we're getting rid of these dangerous ATVs and purchasing brand name ATVs for our kids to ride safely. I'd just hate to see a kid get burned on one of these!

First off, welcome to the site. Glad to hear that your son was wearing the correct riding appearel which untimately saved his legs from being burned. And thank you for the warning for others looking for a "cheap" first quad to buy

Glad to hear that your son was not hurt. Thank you for the warning. Its amazing how manufacturers, more and more, want no part of taking responsibility for their defective product. This is an obvious issue with the quad.

Welcome to the site .. and it's good to see no one got hurt..

Eton has a good youth line of machines.. I have a "first" 150 cc quad for my daughter and have no complaints..
I agree that you should stick to a name brand.. The odds are in your favor that you won't get "burned".

Good luck !
