Hello. Exe3 here, with another question,as usual.I have a 1997 Scrambler 400 4x4,2-stroke.I have posted about this bike before. I had to have it bored out,and new piston installed, etc,At this time,I told my man to put on a slip-on tailpipe, supposedly to increase my power,(which it appears to have done),This thing will stand straight up with you,and if youre not careful,Turn completely over.( this I found out the hard way haha) Now if the community would only appreciate this like I do.haha Anyway,I have had the law called on me several times, because of noise. One cop even got mad at me for running from him. I told them That if I had been running from him,I would have at least hit the woods,or cossed the river or something. The truth is,I did not even know he was back there,or believe me,He would have knew I was running.haha.( I was riding on a rural road),But my question is,can I install some kind of silencer to this slip-on,or maybe a different pipe, and still retain my power gain?Any answers would be appreciated. Thanx, and Get In The Zone. Not autozone, either.haha Exe3.

Hey, i hear ya with the noise. I had a Trailblazer, with one hell of a loud pipe on it(hotseat). I was also impressed by the power gain, but disheartened by the NOISE. I tried alot of different mufflers on mine(actually have to cut them off and weld new ones on on the trailblazer pipe), and never got one decible quieter. You have a different option though. Because you have a two piece pipe system, you can change either pipe or silencer. I think you will notice that ALOT of people on other Polaris sites wind up replacing the 400's pipe, and using the stock silencer. You still get a power gain, and it stays quiet. Oh yeah, also with the Centrifical clutch, it always stays in the rpms which becomes obnoxious when you are trying to creep around......
