Hello,
I have a 98 sportsman 500. Here lately the belt has been hitting the cover and the thing won't move. It idles fine but as soon as you give it throttle it dies. Also I noticed the clutch pulley doesn't sit directly in front of the circle behind it. Is that how it is supposed to be, or has the pully moved making it hit.

as far as idling fine then dying when you give it gas, it sounds like a sensor of some sort that is not working properly. The belt problem I would have to see in order to figure it out.

Sounds like it's starved for fuel. Can you get more response from it while the choke is left on?

Maybe you let it sit too long and the gasoline varnished?
