I am going to make a blind guess not knowing anything about that bike. I am guessing the speedo is electric and the switch to your 2x4 is also. (not a lever) Check the fuse box for loose fuses or burnt ones.

check your wiring running down the side of the struts that control your hub engagement. They like to break.

It is prob the 4X4 switch. They "go bad" especially when the machine gets wet alot or out in the cold (water and cold are really bad on the switch) It's easy to replace, and relatively cheap. If you notice, the "02" gets a new and improved hard switch instead of the push button (I believe that is what you have??)
good luck!

I have the same issues on my '99 500 Sportsman........I looked at the "wires" going to the struts........appear to be no more than sensors on the disc backing plate

The shaft turns free and so do the half shafts...... the front tires spin freely...no drag whatsoever.
Mine has the slide switch that shows "AWD" when moved to the left.

I did pull the hub and all I swa was a alloy 2 piece disc with rollers held in place with a large "O" ring that rotated in a smooth race......how in the does that take the torque

Apologys for asking before offering but I have reached a wall.........

This looks like a fun place!

Your set up, with the front hubs, sounds just like the Scramblers. Now I am no mechanic, but when was the last time you checked or changed the hub fluid?

I have only had this machine for 2 months......got it used but no manual.

Is that what the small allen plug is for on the hub?
Also what type/amount of lube is req?

I was a bit surprised to see heavy wt oil when I pulled the brgs....thought for a moment I got hozed

Thanx and for the reply!

Yes, that is what the allen key screw is for. Use ONLY Polaris Hub Fluid I hope that solves the problem, it should
