Thumbs up

I need some help with my '96 express 300. I bought this machine new and have had absolutly no problems(wow!) until now. Starts and idles ok, but when I open throttle it bogs and backfires...will not pull itself. I have done the following:

flushed fuel tank(a little trash in there)
replaced fuel lines and filter
new air filter
new spark plug
sprayed carb w/cleaner
comp. is 110psi

No fix. Pulled spark plug...had oil on it. Also seems to be smoking more than usual.
This all started while my son was "putting around the yard". Machine has never been ridden hard(maybe not hard enough?). Please help if you can.

Thanks,
The Muffin

I'm also known as the muffin man I guess cause my last name is Meffen. Anyways sounds to me like you have some sort of ignition/electrical problem. Does your machine have a governor /rev limitor on it? Thats where I would I check.

Thanks for the reply, warriorshris. I'm thinking(I hope) it's electrical. Don't know if there's a gov. on it or not. I'm waiting for my service manual to arrive. Maybe it will give me some Info to work with. I want to check everything I can before I take it to somebody who will charge me "an arm and a leg" to tell me it was a bad wire or something like that. Thanks again.

MM

P.S. They call me Muffy, but thats a long story.

well good luck gettin it fixed. If your bike has a parking brake on it they usually have a rev limitor on them at least Yamaha does anyway I dunno about Polaris,if there is you can just disconnect it just follow the wire down underneath the front fender.
