Hey all,Ihave a question about a 2000,or 2001 model trailboss 325. It belongs to a friend, and it seems like the motor is locked up.I am not a quad mechanic, other than the basics, but I did check the oil, which was fine, and took a look at the belt, which was also fine. The motor definatly will not turn, and I was thinking of taking off the recoil start cover, and looking there.Could something be in there to cause this? I have heard of cars with a flywheel bolt backed out having the same problem.I just dont want to take this cover off and have parts go flying everywhere.can this happen? also, there must be some kind of seal or gasket there,Im assuming. The person who owns it is definatly not rich, and her kids love this thing,so if possible (and fairly simple) Id like to help her out.Anyone have any info? Thanks,EXe3

can you be more specific
as for what exactly happens when you do...
if you press the starter button and nothing happens
or if you hear a low clicking sound from the starter and nothing happens
its possible that your starter is stuck
there might be a workaround for this situation but its not your final solution
but might start your quad for couple more times
here it goes :dork:
locate the starter under your quad
if you have a skid protector remove it
and tap with the back of a screwdriver or a small hammer
(gently but firmly, based on the feedback if your getting any from the engine
go little harder if needed and sound like is breaking free)
in the middle area of the starter tube
if possible do it while your trying to start the quad
if this works then you will need to replace the starter unit ASAP
hope this helps keep us posted

It definatly clicks, but not like when a battery is almost dead.also the rope start will not pull.Could a stuck starter cause that? Seems to me like the gear on the starter would have to be stuck in the engaged position with the motor for the rope not to pull.Just stabbin in the dark.haha thanks.

also, does the starter have a solenoid, like a car? if so,do I need to peck on that,or the starter itself?

We took it to a polaris mechanic, and he said the crank is broke. He also said Id have a hard time finding this part, even new, then it would cost around a hundred bucks. He said I would be better off buying a motor, also a new engine would cost around 2100.00,which would make the quad cost more than its worth. any opinions on this? Looks to me like I could just order a crank from Polaris,or is that too simple. haha
