I was checking out my Scrambler today and noticed a lot of play (side to side movement) in the left A-arm but no play in the right. I am guessing it is shot and needs to be replaced. Do I replace the whole arm, or just bushings? Are there bushing??
It's a 2004 and already I blew out the rear bushing and now this. Am I abusing it too much? If so, is there any machine that can take the abuse because I am not about to let up on it I do ride it a lot, but heck, it should be able to take it

Get the bushing's changed.. You'll probably get hit for an hrs. labor plus parts.
You may need to be a lil more "diligent" with your regular maintenance..
I TRY to go over my quad after every ride .

You can get just bushings for it. The stock bushings are pretty cheap (go figure) I know there are some aftermarket companies out there that sell them. Unfortunatly the 04's don't have grease fittings on the control arms. I wish they did. I was almost tempted to drill some holes and put them in mine. Very esy fix. Don't waste your money having the dealer install them.

If one side is loose and the other one is tight, maybe you just crushed one of the bushings?

Aftermarket companies offer needle bearing to replace the bushings, but I think I would avoid using them just because rust is
going to be inevitable.

Are you sure the freeplay is coming from your A-arm and not the wheel bearings?
