Can Making my mixture to lean fry my piston?

Charlie Rossier of Rossier Engineering used to think so. He would insist that you shouldn't premix exta oil into your fuel even during break in.

Running too lean will fry your piston along with other problems.
What ratio of oil and gas does the manufacturer recommend you use?

Before you order a new piston and rings you might want to check and see if you need to get the cylinder bored out because if you fried the piston due to too much heat I am sure the cylinder wall is scorched too.

Definitely.

Also, if the piston components are dry and dusty, it's likely you had an oil injection pump problem.
