I have a Polaris Scrambler 50CC that my daughter rides. It will start and run but when you give it the gas it shuts off. I can throttle it slowly and it will speed up. When you hit the gas wide open it shuts off. I have replaced the gas filter checked the vent line removed the carburetor and cleaned it out. I removed all the old gas and replaced it with fresh gas. I replaced the plug also

did the bike run good at one time?
if so, what happened just before it started doing this?
did you go through deep water or replace a part etc...
sounds like it's not getting gas. did you take the carb. completely apart and clean it out?

May sound stupid, but have you checked the air filter. Since sitting, it may have creatures living in it

Yes I removed the air filter cleaned it reserviced. I can start it up and hold my thumb over the intake of the carb and it runs fine even at full throttle.

It sounds like the carburetor is still clogged. You may not have cleaned all the areas you could have.

If you didn't remove items #8 "Nozzle" and #16 "float needle", you may want to dig into the carburetor again. I'm more suspicious of a dirty nozzle than anything.

If you didn't remove the air screw #5, you might as well take the time to do that too. Count the amount of turns as you screw it in and record that number before removing it. Careful not to loose the spring, flatwasher and o-ring that's in there too.

Thanks I will try this . I definatly did not see a spring on the air mixture screw I'll have to check on the o-ring and washer I did not check these when I cleaned it the first time. The missing o-ring may be my problem.

I wouldn't worry so much about the air screw, I don't think it's contributing to the problem. I was only suggesting you clean in there to just to be thorough in your cleaning.

i also have the same quad for my 5yr old son. my quad was slow and had no power and sometimes would die when it was pegged. i found out that if you unbolt the head pipe there is a restrictor plate ( size of a quarter)with a hole in it. remove it and the end of the muffler cap and the quad will run like a million bucks. hope its not to fast for her now.
