Hey everyone,

I've read through some old posts on here and on nyatv forums about Tug Hill riding, but I still have questions...

For my son's birthday this summer (he's 8) he wants us all to go to Tug Hill because some guy we bought one of our used ATV's from told us how he went there and you can ride around everywhere legally, go to restaurants, the store, etc. on your ATV. He was hooked and has not stopped bugging me to go.

I've called the Lewis County chamber of commerce and they sent me a bunch of stuff, and trail maps are on the way too. Specifically they recommended:They said these 2 were right on the trails and comfortable. I'm looking for somewhere that we can go and not have to use our car the entire weekend. Just ride in and out of where we stay, ride to a restaurant or two, etc. My daughter is into horses, so if there is a place to go horseback riding nearby that would make the trip even more perfect.

There will be four of us, my wife and kids are not into anything crazy. The kids are 8 and 10 and won't mind wide flat trails as long as there are places to go and they feel safe, so I think Tug Hill will be a good trip for them even though I've read how lot's of people are not satisfied with it up there anymore. I'm afraid though about what I'll find after reading about some trails being closed, some open, some hope to open, etc.

Of course, if there is any other place that offers a similar type of experience within driving distance of NJ, mention that too!

So anyway, long question, but if anybody has any specific recommendations on what to do or where to go, please let me know. Websites would help if you've got 'em. Remember I've no idea what the place is like... help?

Thanks everyone!
Joe

I go all the time on quads and sleds we like to stay at tuggers on the quads. Cool cabins and right near food gas etc. They just re opened the trail to the gas station so thats all good now. Anything else ask me. Also we have a good ride review on NYATV located here:
