My first car was a light blue, 1975 Ford Maverick - (and this was in 97') Needless to say if you've ever seen one, it wasn't the best car in the world. And of course, being the safe and carefull young driver that I was, I liked to take it off-road. Man, I took that thing places that I wouldn't take my quad through.

Well, on one peaceful afternoon while driving around with a few of my friends, I hit one of my usual spots, an area in the industrial park that was still being cleared and graded for new constuction. So I buzzed around in the dirt and mud for a bit, making sure not to hit the dirt pile that I accidently hit before - by the way, did you know that if you ramp a Maverick off a dirt pile and get air, it will stall?

I went back behind one of the spots around the empty drainage pond. I got to the top of the other side and realized that I couldn't go any farther. So, what did I deside to do? I drove down into the pond. It got through pretty good, until I tried to drive over the 2 ft stream that was in the middle of it. Needless to say, I sunk the damn thing up to the floorboards and past the bumpers.

My friends, of course were a big help. I sent them to try to find something to put under the tires, - one came back with a cardboard box, and the other one came back with a Mexican hat! We were able to get it out with a pickup truck with no problem. A quick trip to the self- carwash, and it was good as new.
