Thumbs up

I have an 03 Suzuki QuadRunner LT160. Just got it this year back in March. Already I have to put new brake shoes on the front. Does this sound right?

Im gonna have to say no, it shouldn't need new brakes already, especially drums. Unless Sluggo is right and they were over adjusted. Did the repair shop tell you this? Or are you just thinking they are too thin?

I adjusted them as far as they can go and the brake lever still touches the hand grip. Maybe Suzuki just puts sheet shoes on to begin with...?

I checked them out last night. Took off the drum and adjusted them all the way out. Then held in the brake lever while measuring the distance. It was just short of touching the drum, if you know what I mean.
What do you think "mechanic Mike"?

I would have to agree that it should not need new brakes already. Also consider the size of the riders that have been on it. It was not being taxed.

Dave, just my 2cents,

I bought my blaster in april, put pads on the front drums twice so far and replaced the rear twice as well.

Then I took the advice from the blaster forums and put the disc brakes all around. I think that it is possible that the pads are shot.

You can get pads off ebay with "buy it nows" for $25 a set (2pairs). I'll try to dig up the emails for you.

Can you say.... Mud, Sand, Dirt & Coal dust...... Mud will tear up your brakes, drum brakes would be worse because the crap gets caught inside.
