Hey gang. This post is about my recent water ingestion issues for my 04 Kodiak 450. I've tried a few things and thought I'd list them as a "so far" and get some additional advice..

It's always been an issue, even from the first year, but never been bad enough to have it stall out in the middle of a lake or river crossing.....

It looks like a huge lake, but really it isnt, just one big puddle.. that wasnt even that deep, but low and behold. Stuck.

Anyway. I cleaned the air filter for 30 minutes Fri after work, so. I was ready for Sat. I started with a cold engine, and raised the choke a hair, to get just above an idle.... I started methodically spraying potential candidates for trouble. Spark plug and wire, general dashbaord wiring, Nothing. Sprayed the carb. Nothing. COATED the carb. Nothing. Moved on to airbox, nothing... ok now I was baffled, I was sure it would be airbox....... I shut off the bike. Went inside baffled n cranky. Wife kicked me out after just 30 minutes... Came back out determined.. Before I sprayed the motor this time, I popped open the airbox and found.... WATER! This had to be it. It was the crankcase breather tube. So, today I removed the airbox end of it, and sealed ONLY the male end connected to the airbox, then pushed the tube back on twisting and making sure it sealed ok.

It's drying now. Will test carefully Sunday at Tower City...

Can anyone else make any recc's?? Tattoo and Motorhead both recc dielectric grease, havent obtained it yet, but will this week... (along with my trans' drain plug lost yesterday too-unrelated)

P.S.- Oil has been fine. Thankgod.

Have you considered using one of those waterproof Outerwears to protect your engine from water?
