So we've all seen these by now right? Radiator Power washers....helps clean the radiator when the bike gets to overheating....

Well I took it upon myself to try and make something ....while its not 100% done yet, it will be if I get off my butt today... The pictured unit above is $150..... A little pricey.... very powerful unit, rebuildable and all that, but....maybe too powerful, not looking to damage the fins, Im just looking to get some of the mud out, ya know?

So, thanks to a few tech articles on an ATV Mud website, I was able to build this....

I know it aint pretty, and I have no hose yet... but mine will get done for $20.00 or less.... so far, it's only be $10.50, I'm guessing hose, hose clamps, and a nozzle cant be much..... heading to the Depot in a little while for that, also the matter of a nozzle end...havent decided how to handle that yet, really, anything will work if I'm willing to be a little creative (Creative: MGJ definition= buy something, take it apart, glue or modify it for what I really need, discard the rest)

Hopefully it'll be not only functional, but tested before the Quadfest... You may recall, I needed it last year...

So this is something you mount to the ATV and ride around with? Do you have to sink the machine in water in order for this pump to draw water?

Maybe you should get an old 12v boat motor and mount it in front of the radiator. Sink the bike ATV up to the propeller and and then blast away the mud.

U submerge the bilge pump into water, then plug in lighter on a bike and u have an instant sprayer... Test coming soon, we have a huuuuge cooler filled with ice water I'm going to dunk it in and test shortly, letting the epoxy cure a bit more....

It's almost done, all hose ends are attached, just need hose clamps to sturdy things up a bit...

Tested!!! Works very good if I dont say so myself, better than I expected. I emptied that cooler in no time and darn near cleared the roof of Gin's car.

Pics tomorrow..... we'll need a longer hose I've discovered.... that'll be an easy fix. Otherwise, golden!

Could you possibly post the list of parts used?

Sure, its quite basic though.

500gph bilge pump, WALMART $10.00
1 - 12 volt cigarette lighter plug, pilfered from old "pool toy pump"...no pool, but I KNEW it would come in handy some day!
2 - garden hose adapters Home Depot $1.00
2 - foot initial length garden hose -Freebie $0 had some here.
2 - hose clamps - not even purchased yet, $1.00??
Epoxy, waaay too strong, left over from Transmission snorkel project.
Electrical tape and heatshrink tubing, $0 - had that here too...

I just need to purchase more garden hose, was thinking of that collapsable stuff, not sure how it would hold up IN my bikes rear box.... things are getting damaged back there....

I'll post a pic and maybe even a cheesy video to show what I've created......
