How is your mechanical expertise? For starters see if you are getting spark (check spark plug to see if it is fouled {no space between ground and center electrode} and check the gap)...to do this pull the spark plug, connect it back up to spark plug wire, lay sparkplug on top of the engine so the threads are touching metal...try to start the bike while watching the spark plug......you should see a spark "arch." If you are getting spark, next check: fuel filter, air filter, and, I know this sounds sooooooo dumb {but having done it I can relate} is the bike out of gas? If everything is clean, sparking, and lots of fuel, then next could be the carb is plugged up with gunk? Since the bike is a 2000 model I would doubt this, but it can happen.
IF you mechanical knowledge is beyond the above, the only thing I can offer is call the Polaris service center in your area.....maybe they can check it for you.

you have no points, the bike is electronic ... I would bet either the ignition coil, or the ignition control box is at fault ... I have also seen a bad stator prevent a bike from starting ... sounds like you need to purchase the correct service manual and do some reading ... most manuals give you pinpoint tests for specific problems
