Dummer, if it's not leaking oil, it's blowing by the piston rings ... a compression test AND a cylinder leak down test will confirm this ... to use half a quart in a few hours, you should see a trail of blue smoke from the exhaust ... you should also see traces of oil on the spark plug ... it's probably time to rebuild ... if you do need a piston and rings, make sure you have the valve guides in the cylinder head checked for wear ... the valve stem seals should also be replaced any time you remove a head ... it's good insurance ... hope this helps

You might not see any smoke from the tail pipe. 4 stroke motors have positive crankcase ventilation or PCV. There should be a 5/8 hose running from the valve cover out under the bike. If your piston rings are warn it will put some of that compression into the cranckcase. This is called Blowby. Without a vent, pressure will build up in the crankcase and blow out your seals. Find the vent and check it for an unusual amount of blowby. If there is an ecessive amount of oil coming from that tube you are definitely looking at a rebuild. You can also give your quad a good cleaning, start your quad, place a large fan directed at the motor to keep it from over heating. Let it run and watch underneath for drips of oil. You can raise and lower engine speed to simulate riding speeds without going out for a ride. Or after a ride on a dry day look over the quad. If you have a leak you should see where the dirt is moist. It should be moist by the bad seal if you have one.

we've had this conversation before, Dummer ... get the piston kit ... it's not expensive ... and, it will restore the bikes power back to normal ... you'll be glad you did

Dummer, if it's NOT leaking the oil, it's burning it ...the oil has to be going some place, right
