I have a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 90 and it runs great for a while and then all of the sudden it dies - starts right back up and it will idle but when you throttle it it falls on its face and dies. Let it sit for 10 minutes or so and it runs good again. Would this be a CDI? Carb problem? It does this in mid summer by the way. It is driving me crazy and I do not want to dump big $$ in it. Thanks in advance.

You could start by checking the fuel screen in the bottom of the fuel tank and the fuel line going to the carburetor. But you also should check the carb's float height. If fuel is getting to the carburetor too slowly, then the ATV will be running on fuel in the carburetor until the fuel supply catches up.

Good advice.

Also check that the fuel tank vent is working. Next time it stalls and will only idle, remove the fuel tank cap and see if the problem goes away.
