I have a '99 LT 250 Suzuki Quad Runner that keeps stalling. It seems to only stall when I'm riding it hard. I'm thinking some kind of electrical problem - it gets hot, then shuts down. After it stalls, I am always able to get it started again. I would appreciate any ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

After it stalls, how long does it take till you can restart it??????? I dont think it is electrical. Is there any smoke when it runs??? Is there a puff when you start it??????? Do you have any valve tap???? We need more info...... :airrev:

Hi, thanks tor the reply. I can usually get it restarted within a minute or so. No, there is no smoke whatsoever, and I haven't noticed any valve tap.

Except for when it is stalling, the quad runs great. Like I said though, when I'm on the throttle and riding hard, it will just shut off - no warning (ie. sputtering, etc) just shuts off right now.

Have you cleaned the carb???? If the bowl isnt filling fast enough for the demand of the engine when you stab the throttle, it will just shut itself down. Then as it sits there for a minute, the bowl fills back up, and you can start it again. Check the filter that is on the petcock that goes into your gas tank. If that filter is clogged you will also starve for fuel when the demand is high, then as it sits the gas will come back into the bowl. Check for kinks in the fuel line, or any other kind of rigged up peices that could be causing a problem, like little plastic fittings in the fuel line. If it isnt that, then I guess maybe it is electrical, but I find it unlikely cause either electrics work, or they dont. What you have is kind of in the middle. Let me know how it works out. Try the petcock first, it should just be two little screws on the bottom of the tank. If that doesnt help pull off the carb and give it a good cleaning. and make sure you check for kinks!!!!!

I almost forgot, make sure your breather on the gas cap is clear as well.
