Hello everyone. I am an experienced powersports tech. who has decided to try to make a go at an internet business.
I offer a service where i answer questions of people who have made it to the point in repairing their machines where you are just standing there scratching your head.
If you or anyone you know may be able to use a service like this drop on by and let me know what you think. thanks,

I think its very big of you to offer to volunteer your time to help out other power sports enthusiasts.

If I misunderstood you and your looking at making a living doing this then I think you may have a tough time competing with the many free methods avail to everyone on the net.

Now send me $20 for my opinion LOL

At first, this sounded like a good idea, and much like the rest of us you want your piece of the internet fortune, but it is probably not going to take off. Like Lenny said, why pay when there are great exepirienced guys on here willing to help for nothing.

My site is new new and i am still in the process of adding new
info to it, including copies of all my certs and patches.I do realize that info is available for free in chat rooms and such but, working in this industry for so long i cant tell you how many people have come to me after receiving advice from others that did nothing but cost them money because the person giving the advice had nothing to go by but the experiences they have had with their own machines. The problems may have been the same but the repairs were totally different. Troubleshooting is the first step in any repair an if done incorrectly can cost alot of time and money.
Would you rather ask the advice of the guy standing in the pit or the guy who does this every day?

Hey Chris,

I'll start this off from a mechanics point of view. You are right about who you would want to ask, a mechanic, or someone you met riding. But my answer would be(and you should know this), its all about information. If you are going to get repair manuals and troubleshooting guides for the makes and models you want to help with, then i'd say its a good idea, and "might" be worth pursuing. But if you are gonna shoot from the hip with just general knowledge, then there are alot of us on boards like this, who are also competent mechanics(on here we have a couple, luvsandpits, me, syco) and can basically do the same thing.

I wish you luk, but if you are not gonna offer anything that other mechanics can offer(like diagrams, and factory info), then im not sure how you will attract clients.

GOOD LUK

Crish, sounds like a good idea, but here's what might make it better. Maybe you should try and put together a referral network for good cycle mechanics all around the country. Many people don't know where to take their ATV to be serviced besides dealerships.

Thats actually a great idea, but a whole lot different than the original intent etc.

I wasnt being anything but helpfull and hopefully a little humerous in the first post so hope it wasnt taken wrong etc. but just like the backyard mechanic offering advice based on his experience you will have to deal with the explanations and experience of the rider or owner having the problem and to me this is where things get real tricky diagnosing over the net etc.

Actually had put some thought into something similar in the past, but decided against it.

Thing is there is a honest need for many to have access to info on their machine and also for repairs. Problem seems to be that those who are able to properly offer info on their problem are also the ones who will be looking for free info and the real potential customer is dragging his machine back to the dealer again.

Sure there will be those who dont follow suit to the above, but from what I have seen they are the minority.
