This may apply to all Yamaha 4wd's....if your 4wd indicator light goes out, but you still have 4wd, then maybe the plug behind the front axle (easily spotted by looking from the right side of the bike) has come off, or corroded. The servo that actuates the front wheel drive is here, and the indicator feed wire originates from here as well. I found mine to be intact, but corroded. A light sanding with emory paper, and a dab of dielectric silicone solved the problem.
