Thumbs up

In knee deep water today. Engine stalled -tried to restart on land, no go.
Manual crank now stuck. Pulled plug, and still cannot manually crank.Any suggestions out there?

Did you drain crankcase? What kinda quad is it? May have crankcase complaetely filled with water. Either that, or siezed engine. Was it running when it went in? Coulda bent rod.....

It's a polaris 400 sport. It was running, and after hitting the water quad stalled. Pushed to embankment, and tried to start. Never ran seemed to jam starter.

Did you drain crankcase? THere is a plug on the bottom for this occasion. If anything comes out you need to flush out the crankcase. Im not sure what you would use. But since there is no oil in the crank of a 2-stroke you need to get something in there to get rid of water before it rusts and is beyond repair. Id probably say to drain the case, and then try to rinse it with alcohol. Or maybe some kinda of light oil. Really not sure on this one. How bad was this thing sunk? Sounds like it was in good. With the plug out you couldn't get it to move? If you can also, take off pull-start and see if it will turn in opposite direction.

Back in the old four wheelin days, you would use kerosene to evaporate the water in the bearings.

First, drain the oil, then put kerosene in the case, let it sit over night, drain it, add oil, run again for awhile (long enough to run real hot) and drain the oil again.

The real problem is the moisture in the crank bearings.

Hope your ok,
-Chris

yo az, i've had the trailblazer 250 in to about the tops of the tires with no problem. was there water in the air box? i would try removing the pvt cover and cranking it over manually with the plug out. you don't suppose the manual pull start got jamed and the electric start has an electrical problem at the same time?
hope this helps later,sj
