I own a kvf300 4x4, 2000 model. Took her in country to go hunting, never got 5 mins out of her,she was sputtering, backfired and cut out. Eventually got her go again but she wouldn;t turn off right away. Now she won't start at all. Got lots of spark. But the wires under the back tire on left side....two of them got the plastic melted off of them. Any ideas as to what the problem is here or whats going on??

Thanks
fabian

"But the wires under the back tire on left side...." >Thats a problem in its self. lol

Anyway sounds like A hot ( + ) wire has shorted to ground ( - ). This would melt the wires because way to much amperage has gone threw them during the short. These wires have to be replaced. The wire may have chaffed against the frame and wore threw the insulation of the wire and grounded. Other options are the component the the wire supplies power too has shorted to ground, or the wire has made contact with another wire that is a ground ( - ) supply. Carefully remove and replace the wires from end to end with new wire. Make a diagram if needed or some type of way to remember what wire goes wear. Check all other wires that my run in the harness with these wires for damage (burnt, missing insulation, broken, ect. ). Replace or repair as nessesary. Be sure to find what cased the short so your time spent will not be in vain. Are these 2 wires for the tail light ?

also make sure you are getting gas. If it has spark it should run unless no gas is reaching the cylinder. Does this have an electronicly control fuel system or just a carb with no wires on it?

JUST CHECKING ,YOU GOTTA RULE OUT THE DUMB THINGS FIRST !
We have all made stupid mistakes. One time someone else turned my gas off ,I was pissed .I never turn it off ,and my rap only went 10 feet and stalled .I was going crazy until I noticed it.
