YES, this is a repost, but since I got zero replies at YAMAHA ATVs, I figure I'll try it here.... (Yes I'm impatient)

Helpin my 10 yr old ridin buddy/neighbor. Seems his 04' Raptor 80 with electric start simply wont turn over. Its only 12 hours. Never been wet...just driven. It jumps from 3rd OK choked, yet cranks n cranks n cranks but never starts otherwise. I yanked the plug on it and noted it was black and wet, perhaps flooded... so a couple of "dry cranks" , a quick clean and regap of plug per specs and still....cranks and cranks, no start. Once it is jumped and runs, the bike starts fine with elec start. The battery seems OK, all fuses are in place and OK (And again, It does start electrically once jumped and a little warm.

I think we're takin it to Yamaha Saturday, but the kid is chompin at the bit here......

SO..... any ideas??????

MGJ.

Did you try a new spark plug? Other than that, it could be running rich. You could try messing with the idle mixture screw. A good starting point is 1.5 turns out. Then you can fine tune it from there. Cold, fuel doesn't atomize as well as when it's warm, and an engine running rich only makes this worse. Hope this helps... post what the fix was.
