I have a 2001 Trailboss 325, I bought from a friend who rode it very little, and the last 2 times we have used it I have noticed a noise that sounds like gears rattling in the transmission. It's like a rattling/growling kind of sound.
I adjusted and lubed the chain, and added some grease to the transmission, rode it for awhile and it went away, but last time I used it the noise re-appeared.
is this possibly something in the clutch, or tranny ??
Thanks

You probably need to isolate the problem by only applying one correction at a time. Sounds like it's either the chain or the transmission since you changed something about each and the problem was affected.

Well I figured out what the noise was I kept hearing from time to time. It turns out that once the drive chain becomes caked with sand/mud, it doesn't slide through the plastic lower chain guide smoothly and makes a lot of noise like I described above.
Once you clean and lubricate the chain, and if needed the chain guide, the noise goes away.
Just thought I'd share that in case anyone else notices this.
