I have a 2004 kazuma 110 atv (4 stroke) and I can't get any spark to the plug. The machine is brand new an has never run. I am getting fire to the coil and the spark plug wire is good.

Please help!

How do you know the wire is good? Looking at a wire can't tell you that being I have seen so many bad wires come right out of the box. If you verify you have juice going to the coil and (take a wire from some other machine you know is good) the plug wire is working you have a bad coil.

sounds like possibly a stator problem but being brand new bike ???????thats just a guess, cause thats what my diagnosis proved

had the same problem with the wolverine......10 min with a meter...and showed
the pick up in the stator assy. was shot...
$350.oo for the part and a couple hours install and she was good to go! good luck
let us know what you find!

I can't help observe you've diagnosed this problem with about 95% accuracy.

Make sure the high tension wire fastens to the coil and plug cap securely. If you're getting primary voltage to the coil, but no secondary voltage out of it, and you've elimnated tthe spark plug lead, then my money is on a failed ignition coil. Perform a static test (ohms-resistance) on the coil at 75F after disconnecting it from the bike.

Hopefully someone else can advise you on the specifics of how to do a static test of the ignition coil. You'll be checking resistance on the secondary side of the coil and again on the primary side of the coil. It's very important to know whether you're to measure K-ohms or just ohms for each side of the coil. It's important because a failed coil will often test as a short (near 0 ohms) or an open (unlimited ohms). If you select the wrong range on your multimeter, it's will be easy to get the wrong test result.

It's been my experience that a static test can verify the coil is bad, but it can't verify the coil is good. Swapping with a known good replacement is the only sure way to diagnose a faulty coil. Good luck.
