Hello new to the fourm and pretty new to my 4-wheeler. I have a 2000 Yamaha Big Bear 400 I have been having trouble getting it started in the cold weather even though it sits in my garage. I pulled the plug tonight and its all black and fouled out I cleaned it and put it back in and it cranked right over and started. The plug that was in it only has about 3 or 4 hours of service. Any Ideas???

Black, fouled plug indicates too much fuel.......or not enough air.....getting into the combustion chamber. Check air filter first and clean if necessary. If the plug still fouls then the carb would be the next component to look at, particularly the float needle. Suggest you get the service manual to learn how to properly set the float level if needed. As a last culprit it could be your quad is jetted incorrectly. This is something you should take up with the Yamaha service/dealer.
