I tried to adjust the chain on my 400EX and noticed water dripping out from rear axle housing (end of swingarm) when I loosened the 4? allen bolts that secure the seam of the swingarm. There is a substantail gasket there that should keep water out.

Has anyone had this same problem? Is it common? Is water getting past the gasket? How do you fix it, replace the gasket? Do you have to remove the whole rear axle assembly to fix this?

I bought the quad used last August & have ridden twice in puddles & rain & have squirted the quad off with meduim water spray a few times.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had that happen also but i went a step further and took it all apart, it was all good and greased inside with no hint of moisture so it went back together
