I HAVE A '96 SPORTSMAN 500. IT IS THE 3RD SPORTSMAN I HAVE BOUGHT. THIS ONE NEEDED SOME WORK. I HAVE REPLACED STARTER, SOLENOID, BATTERY, AND IGNITION COIL. I STILL HAVE NO FIRE. THE MOTOR TURNS OVER AND I HAVE COMPRESSION. I HAVE CHECKED THE AUX SWITCH, AND THE IGNITION COIL AND THEY CHECK OUT FINE. DOES THIS ALL POINT TO THE STATOR COIL??? THIS ATV HAS SAT FOR ALMOST 3 YEARS B/C OF NUMEROUS SURGERIES I'VE HAD. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE AWESOME. IF IT IS THE STATOR, ANY ADVICE ON WHERE TO GET ONE OTHER THAN THE DEALERS DOWN HERE IN FLORIDA, THEY'RE CRAZY ON PRICES?

I doubt the stator would go bad while the bike sat. Especially on a 4-stroke where the stator is typically bathed in oil and is less likely to corrode. If this is a DC-CDI ignition, then it's possible your ignition would run off the battery even with a bad stator coil (at least for a short while).

Are you sure the new battery is good? Despite what I said above, it could very well be your stator. There's not much else left to check other than connections and fuses.
