Normally what everyone does is try to either epoxy it or weld it and if that dont work you only should need a new case not the whole engine.

Repairing the case is not the major issue, Dummer ... my reason being, what made the case crack in the first place ... putting epoxy on the crack is no better than putting a band aid on it ... you still need to address the root cause of the problem <_<

Thats what the damage in the pic looks like happened.

You may want to invest in a case saver so you dont just mess up the new stuff or repair like a friend of mine did. Its not any fun buying a $150.00 side case the second time in one month

440 is correct ... had I known the chain snapped, I would have told you the same thing ... that's why they call them "CASE SAVERS" ...

you can get one from any parts warehouse, online vendor, e'bay or even your dealer ... they are usually $29.95 for a good aluminum one ... check with Cycle Addicts too, they are listed on Davids site ... hope this helps

Dummer, its called a case saver not a cover. They go between the chain and the case, so when the chain snaps it wont crack the case like what happened to you..

I did a quick search on ebay and found one for reference but I wasn't sure what you ride

case saver
